Sand Filters
Blue Tank & Pump Rental’s sand filter systems are a popular choice as a polishing step in the water treatment process. Sand filtration is great for applications where the goal is removal of algae, slime, or other organic contaminants, as well as sand, rock, grit, and other inorganic contaminants. Contaminated water enters the vessels where it is dispersed in a uniform manner, creating laminar flow across the media bed and avoiding channeling. As the water flows through the media, particulate is trapped and retained within the media bed, allowing the clean water to flow through the underdrain and out of the vessel.
The systems are designed to be autonomous, with little operator input required past setup. The systems are equipped with an automated backwash cycle that is either initiated by elapsed time or a pressure differential between the inlet and outlet of the vessel, indicating the media bed is full of particulate. During backwash, one of the two vessels will reverse flow and send the backwash water to a separate tank, then the valves automatically switch to backwash the second vessel. This means there is no downtime, even while backwashing occurs.
